A large group of students here at Andover Central spend their time outside of school involved in a local Christian youth group: Younglife. This national organization has branches all over, including here in Andover. Each week, the group meets for “club” at the home of one of the leaders where they play games, sing songs, and talk about their faith. Each year, the Andover branch combines with all other groups in the Wichita area for the most anticipated event of the year: Barn Club.
This year’s Barn Club brought just as much excitement as years past; students and leaders alike dressed themselves up in their best boots and warmest flannel to dance and sing along to some classic country tunes. “I loved dancing at Barn Club this year. I loved learning how to line dance and doing it with my friends. They also had Jimmy John’s which was fire,” shared Andover Central senior Don Hager. Don is not the only one who made some awesome memories at Barn Club this year. “I got to spend the whole night with some of my favorite seniors that I will miss dearly next year,” remarked Andover Central junior Allison Saunders.
Allison has been attending Younglife since her freshman year. With the change in how partner dances were handled this year, she was able to make the most out of the event.
Next year is sure to bring just as much fun as this one, and it’s always great to see students building strong relationships through positive avenues! This month, Younglife is hosting another exciting event: Mr. Christmas Tree. We’re eager to see which grade will take the title!
